ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project brings together partners from Denmark, Italy, and Turkey to empower senior local producers in rural and peripheral regions. Through cross-border collaboration, it promotes sustainable food practices, digital marketing skills, and cultural heritage. The initiative supports greener economies and connects remote communities across Europe through shared learning and innovation.
Building on strong pan-European collaboration, the project The Renaissance of Local Food through Ethical Online Marketing connects regions on the geographical and economic outskirts of Europe - Arctic areas, Italy’s southern provinces, and rural Turkey—to explore the untapped potential of digital tools in promoting sustainable local food production.

The project’s core ambition is to strengthen small-scale producers by equipping them with effective online marketing strategies. Through the development of a tailor-made MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), participants gain access to practical knowledge on storytelling and digital visibility. These skills are essential for competing in an increasingly digital food market dominated by large-scale, prefabricated alternatives.

Workshops and transnational meetings create space for sharing innovative practices across different cultural and environmental contexts. Local producers and food professionals in farming, aquaculture, and gastronomy contribute to and benefit from interviews, research, and hands-on learning activities. A documentary, produced across all three partner countries, highlights the unique food traditions and sustainable methods of the regions, while demonstrating the role digital media can play in reaching new audiences.

By combining digital innovation with place-based identity, the project positions ethical marketing not only as a commercial tool but as a means of cultural and ecological preservation. It encourages producers to tell their stories, build direct connections with consumers, and reinforce the value of local, environmentally responsible food. In doing so, the project supports a broader European vision: empowering peripheral regions to thrive in the digital economy while staying rooted in their traditions and values.
